Mountain Bike Rides

email: [email protected]       (Add 'm' to the end. I hate spambots.)
There is no charge for these rides.

I'm leading mountain bike rides in the Jemez Mountains this fall.

Next Rides:

Saturday October 31, 2026
Location:  On the mesas between Jemez Springs and FR376
Cebollita Mesa
15 - 20 miles

Meet: On the mesas at FR604/607   map
Meet Time: 10:00  MDT

Parts of Cebollita Mesa are being logged and thinned.
Some of the best single track has been or will be destroyed.
This ride will cover what is left. At the rate they are going
much of this may be gone by next spring.
Bailout options, if you want a shorter ride.
The fall colors will be great.

Sunday November 1, 2026
Cebollita Mesa
10 - 15 miles

Similar to Saturday's ride
additional options if you want to go longer.

Meet: On the mesas at FR604/607   map
Meet Time:  9:  MST

These rides are dependant upon the weather.
Don't show up with out contacting first.

These will be the last Jemez rides for this year.

The gates usually close November 15.
Check with the Forest Service if you go on your own.

There is a hike to Astialakwa Ruins that I would like to do.
It could be done anytime before there is snow.
Contact me if you are interested.

Please R.S.V.P. no later than 8:00 pm the night before the ride.

Photos along Saturday and Sunday's ride

You will not find these routes on any of the trail apps.

If you are not familiar with this area, check out the photos in my photo gallery

Here are some highlights from one of the last rides.

Tent rock surprise.

We were crazy enough to climb out the hard way.

Want to explore even more? Get this Interactive Photo Map for all the mesas.

If you want to be on the list to be notified of future rides, send an email.
Please include your preferences for ride length, difficulty, riding style and day(s) of the week.

There are lots of options. I prefer to do rides of 15 to 35 miles, but am willing to do shorter or longer rides.

Are you looking to escape the heat and looking for other places to ride?

If you searched All Trails, Trail Forks, Caltopo and other map sites you have found that there are very few trails shown in the Jemez Mountains.
The reality is there is an abundance of riding opportunities waiting for you, but you have to know where they are.
Here are the roads on the mesas that are currently being used by vehicles.

I currently have over 45 gravel routes available. I'm expect to make them available on this site, soon.
I plan to post them on this site soon.
In the mean time, they are avail able upon request.
There are many more old roads and routes that are even more fun to ride.

I'll do slow easy rides if there is a large enough group that wants that.
I'm also open to leading hikes or bike with a hike. I prefer weekdays, but can do weekends, too.

If you will be visiting from out of state and would like to schedule a tour,
I will do that, as long as I am available for that time.

If you are looking for a 2 hour blast downhill, this isn't it.

If you want an adventure with incredible scenery at a comfortable pace, you have found the right place.

Come and enjoy a real adventure.

There is no charge for these rides.

Local Rides:

Most weekdays when I'm not in the mountains:  Daisy Maze (Tijeras Arroyo).

What's is the maze?  31 miles of cool single track ranging from easy to very technical-trialsin sections.

Most Saturdays when I'm not in the mountains I ride:

Winter - Sandia foothills, Placitas Open Space, Buffalo Tract or Bernalillo Watershed

Spring/Fall - Cedro/Otero, Lower Sandia East, Golden Open Space

Summer - East side of Sandias.

I usually ride at least 6 hours on Saturdays. You can bailout early, if you need to.

I am starting to train for the Iron Horse Classic next year.
I'd like to have someone to ride the road with me.
